This original hunting cabin was one of five built in 1940 and features a large stone fireplace on the north wall. In 1960, the cabin was expanded to include a second-level sleeping loft, a vaulted ceiling, and additional square footage on the ground floor. The St. Croix River was designated a federally protected National Wild and Scenic River in 1972. Because this cabin was grandfathered in, subsequent owners were permitted to add a well, septic system, electricity, a bathroom, a bedroom, and a screened porch.
